North Kent College Level 3 Hospitality and Events students had the opportunity to visit The O2 Arena in London, a world-class arena hosting concerts from the world's top stars & elite sporting events for up to 20,000 fans.
They met with the Events Team for a behind the scenes tour of The O2 to find out all about the different types of concerts and events they organise throughout the year.
The students also went backstage for a tour of the green rooms and backstage areas - they were able to see the corridors which are full of signed photos of all the celebrities that have performed there!
There was a wall of all the event management companies they have worked with, which helped the learners understand the process and the timeline of the initial enquiry up to show taking place. They also had a tour of the suites finding out more about the corporate and VIP hospitality packages offered.
This experience was inspirational to the students as it gave them an insight into the entertainment industry, how large events are executed and showed them potential career options for the future.
Tara Archer, Events and Hospitality Lecturer said, “The team were very inspirational, speaking about how they started as a suite host and moved up through the company to the events team. In fact, one of our learners was so inspired that he applied for a part-time job as a suite host and is now working there!”
