Vistry Group is the UK’s leading provider of affordable mixed tenure homes, they work across 26 regions, building homes for those who need them right across the UK. Fran has had a very positive experience during her work placement, as is evident when she answered some questions about her time with Vistry:

Has the placement given you opportunities to meet your learning goals?
Most definitely. My placement has enabled me to interact and collaborate with professionals in the industry, which has allowed me to gain hands-on experience. The placement is also a great opportunity to be able to assist in the theoretical side of your studies, enabling you to understand elements more easily due to seeing them in a real-life situation. The placement is also a great way to get used to a professional work setting that some may have not experienced beforehand.

Did you feel supported, and was communication clear and effective?
Both the College and employer were very clear and supportive throughout my placement and I have been very happy with the whole process.

How could the placement opportunity have been improved?
I don’t think any improvements could have been made, I believe that Vistry has assisted me very well and have gone above and beyond my expectations.

Has it helped you to decide if this is the type of work that you wish to pursue?
My exposure to all project sectors (production, commercial, design, and planning) has enabled me to have a solid understanding of the many roles in construction and how they interact with one another. My placement has also assisted me in determining which area of the industry I would like to work in. It has boosted my confidence overall and I have acquired a lot of abilities that will aid me in my post-T-Level path, including time management, teamwork, organizational skills, communication, digital skills, and presenting.

Shane Allen, Vistry Project Manager who mentors Fran, was very pleased about the progress she has made, saying: "We would be delighted to have Fran join the company at the end of her T Level, to begin her career in construction with Vistry South London. Unlike some placements, which often treated the day as an opportunity to get out of college, Fran has consistently exceeded our expectations with her eagerness to expand her knowledge and her commitment to embodying the company’s values."
