I chose the Tonbridge Campus because my family and I felt it was the best place for me to be to rediscover my confidence and love for acting. My tutor Charlie Peel played a massive role in me choosing the Tonbridge Campus because of the belief that he had in me from the start; this made me want to work with him and I am so glad I did.
My favourite aspect of both courses, I have to say, would be the people; not just the friends you make on the course, but the staff who work so hard each and every day ensuring the course is a fun and safe place for you to express yourself.
I have many great memories from the course and playing for the Tonbridge Campus football team. One of my best memories was when we did the play Scuttlers, about the Manchester Scuttler gangs in the 1800s. It was the closest we could get to Peaky Blinders.
If I hadn’t gone to the Tonbridge Campus, I wouldn’t be where I am now - and I definitely wouldn’t have got into drama school. The Level 3 Acting course especially prepared me for the industry I am now a part of.
I was very lucky I got into drama school in my first year of auditioning. I got into ArtsEd in West London, where I went on to study a BA (Hons) in Acting. As a result of getting into drama school, I decided to move to London from my home in Maidstone. I had three of the best years of my life at ArtsEd, where I made friends for life.
Since leaving ArtsEd, I’ve been very fortunate to have played two leading roles in two plays set in Kent, something which I didn’t think would happen until a lot later in my career. The play I’ve very recently appeared in - Germ Free Adolescent at The Bunker Theatre - has just been published.
One of my career highlights so far would probably have to be getting the opportunity to rehearse in Chatham Dockyard, where one of the plays I did last year was set. I used to go there a lot when I was young, so it was quite surreal to be back there doing what I love doing.
My biggest piece of advice to anyone would have to be “Be interesting and be interested.” I was always told that at drama school - and it is one of the best pieces of advice I have been given.
If I hadn’t gone to the Tonbridge Campus, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
