Introduction

Thank you for applying to join our Catering Course at North Kent College. We’re really looking forward to meeting you. Please arrive in the college reception at your allocated interview time, we do require all items listed below, otherwise we cannot make you an offer. 

Hospitality and Catering courses are offered in our modern professional catering facilities, which are based at our Gravesend and Tonbridge campuses. These include industry standard kitchens and service areas, two fully functioning restaurants, that are open to the public and highly equipped classrooms. You will be taught by specialists, who are able to pass on first-hand experience of working within the industry.

On completion of your programme of study you will be able to begin a career as a Chef, Food and Beverage personnel, Supervisors and Managers. These programmes will be enriched and supported with relevant trips, events and guests speakers, making the overall learning experience stimulating and exciting.

Professional industry placements are offered as part of your study programme and will enrich your knowledge of the industry and help you develop the skills required to work in the Hospitality and Catering industry.

Our Entry Requirements

Level 1 Certificate: We require GCSE Grades 2-9 in Maths and English. Entry point dependent on grades, school report or reference and experience.

Level 1 Diploma: We require GCSE Grades 2-9 in Maths and English. Entry point dependent on grades, school report or reference and experience.

Level 2: We require a Level 1 Diploma in Catering and a minimum GCSE Grade 4 in English and Maths.

You must provide evidence that you are either currently working at, or predicted to achieve these minimum entry criteria before we can offer you a place on our courses.

All students must complete Level 1 prior to studying Level 2 with us.

If you are over 19, please provide copies of your GCSE certificates and a reference from your current employer or post 16 education provider.

Report to Reception, where you will be met by one of our tutors, who will then take you to the interview room.
