Close up of computer screens

This week (9 December to 15 December) marks the 15th anniversary of Computer Science Education Week (CSEd Week), an annual call to inspire students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners in the field.

The theme for CSEd Week this year is "Looking Back, Leaping Forward”, looking back at past achievements in the field of computer science, whilst inspiring the next generation to leap forward into new possibilities.

The week was founded as a call to action to raise awareness about the need to elevate computer science education at all levels and to underscore the critical role of computing in all careers.

Computer science and computing in general is a burgeoning industry, and something we recognise at North Kent College with a series computing and games development courses.

The courses are taught by staff who have gained their knowledge and experience first-hand from industry and academic backgrounds, whilst industry-standard computing hardware and software, allows students to learn using the latest equipment and technology.

Our gaming courses give students hands-on practical experience across, and within, a range of technical skills areas, which reflect current industry practice. The courses provide students with the skills required to produce ideas, problem solve, develop technical skills, engage in professional practice and communicate professionally.

Our computing courses, help students develop a common core of IT knowledge and study areas such as the relationship between hardware and software that form an IT system, managing and processing data to support business and using IT to communicate and share information.
