As well as being the summer solstice, today (21 June) is also the day music is celebrated across the globe, it is World Music Day!
World Music Day first took place in France in 1982, and since then it has grown to be celebrated in more than 1,000 cities across 120 countries.
On World Music Day people are encouraged to listen to and play music in their local area, you can listen to music in the street, outside bars and cafes and in parks and public spaces.
The Day is intended for everyone from amateur to professional musicians, young and old to perform and to make all genres available to the public.
Music is a big part of the curriculum here at North Kent College, we offer a number of courses to help students achieve their musical ambitions, whether that be as a singer, musician, producer or a sound technician.
The courses are run from our highly acclaimed Miskin Theatre, which has been graded as Outstanding by Ofsted for 21 years. Students benefit from professionally equipped studios, rehearsal rooms and facilities, and work alongside experienced industry practitioners
