Today (Wednesday 25 October) is officially International Artist Day, a day to celebrate artists around the world.
From painters to sculptors, the day celebrates the beauty artists add to the world around us, and it also marks the birthday of one of the world’s most famous artists, Pablo Picasso.
The Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker and ceramicist was born on 25 October 1881 and had a long and illustrious career, dying at the age of 91 in 1973.
His legacy stands today and as recently as 2015 he remained the top ranked artist based on sales of art at auctions.
If you are a budding artist, we offer a wide range of Art courses here at North Kent College.
These range from Level 1 and 2 courses, offering an introduction to art and exploring a selection of techniques and processes, to Level 3 and 4 courses that cover fine art techniques such as print making, mix media, video art, elements of design, 3D design and more.
