At North Kent College, we think it is extremely important to celebrate student successes in and out of the College environment! To showcase this, meet Holly and Nicole, two of our Sporting students with amazing achievements…
Holly Pratt – Level 3 79 Sports Mentoring
Holly is a current student with us at North Kent College and a brown belt in Karate! Over the seven years she has trained in her field she has picked up countless titles and medals. Her greatest achievement to date is her Karate World Champion title for her age range and specification. She also holds other Worlds and European titles, visiting countries such as USA, Romania and Italy to compete. Holly is encouraged to compete, and this is recognized within her college course. She is accompanied by her assistant dog, Ruby, who helps her with anxiety at college and during competitions. Holly has Tourette’s and autism, but these haven’t hindered her success in Karate!
Nicole Talbot – Level 2 Personal Training
Nicole is a current student at North Kent College and part of the Dartfordians RFC women’s rugby team. She has been playing contact Rugby for four years and competed in many matches over the years. Her most recent victory was picking up a silver medal in the Kent Cup finals in Medway. Of the back of this, she received three trophies at her club award ceremony including Players Player and Parents Choice. Although Nicole has autism and ADHD, this has not slowed her down in achieving great success as part of her rugby team. Last April Nicole was at a rugby festival for a cluster team trained by Vicky Fleetwood and luckily was able to play their matches on the Wasps Training ground pitch.
Both Holly and Nicole are testament to the ability to overcome adversity and achieve greatness both in and out of college.
