If you want to be part of one of the UK’s biggest industries and have a range of progression opportunities and a good salary, then there is one area you should consider studying in, Accountancy.

The Accounting Industry is a huge contributor to the UK’s economy. A recent report by the UK government reveals that financial services, which include the accounting industry, contributed an amazing £173.6billion to the UK economy in 2021, accounting for approximately 8.3% of the country’s total economic output.

A January 2024 report on the Accountancy Profession in the UK and Ireland by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Boies (CCAB) showed that there were more than 825,000 workers employed by the accountancy profession in the UK, with UK businsses spending almost £30billion on accounting services.

It is an industry that is in demand!

Salaries are generous too. UK graduate experts, Prospects, report that graduate chartered accountants can expect to earn salaries of up to £40,000, during training this figure can increase to £65,000 and the average annual salary for a chartered accountant in business is £134,000, with an average yearly bonus of over £17,000.
