You or your staff will benefit as these courses are delivered by specialist health and safety lecturers who are accustomed to working with a wide range of trainee abilities. All lecturers who deliver these courses undergo training in the delivery of this course and are professionally qualified lecturers. You/your staff will be helped by the aim of this course which is to raise the health and safety awareness of all concerned, not to produce Health and Safety experts.

North Kent College can train you/your staff as it is an ECITB Approved Provider for the CCNSG Nationally Accredited Safety Passport. A temporary safety passport valid for 6 weeks from the course date is issued on successful completion of the course with the substantive safety passport being sent to the delegate within 2 weeks of the completion of the course so you/your staff will be able to get on site the next day. This safety passport is valid for three years from the date of the course. You/your staff require this card on power generation sites, refineries, petrochemical sites, process industries and many other sites such as paper mills before entry on the site will be permitted.

Course Benefits

This interactive classroom based course gives a forum for you/your staff to learn from the lessons as well as from the wide range and depth of experience of other delegates on the course. You or your staff will acquire a raised level of awareness of hazards and ways to reduce risk to you/them. This will benefit you/them by reducing the risk of you/them suffering personal harm and/or financial loss. You/your staff will be able to access CCNSG sites which will help anyone involved in tendering for contracts.

Additional Information

This course is for anyone requiring a Safety Passport, when carrying out repairs or maintenance on Client sites. All delegates must produce their National Insurance number, plus two passport-size photographs, means of identification e.g. international travel passport, or photo driving licence. ACE Cards (Assuring Competence in Engineering Construction) - If you hold an ACE card it can be combined on a single card with the CCNSG card on successful completion of the CCNSG 2 Day National Safety course.

Course Content

There are 4 sessions: 1] Introduction to the CCNSG safety passport scheme; The importance of the Engineering Construction Industry; Safe Behaviour at Work; Consequences of good and poor behaviour at work; 2] Duties under health and safety legislation; Hazards and Risks; The role of risk assessment in the workplace; Concept of reducing risk to as low a level as is reasonably practicable.; 3] Fire Safety; Manual Handling; Requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER); Noise; Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS); Confined Spaces; Control of Substances Hazardous to Health; 4] Mechanical Lifting Operations; Asbestos; Working at height; Site transport safety; Signage; Excavations; Electrical Safety including Isolation procedures; Environment; Accident reporting.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATIONS The National Maritime Training Centre/Occupational Safety & Health Centre reserves the right to cancel a course in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Whilst this necessity is regretted we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible, and in all cases the student will have the option of transferring to another course at a later date. Cancellations made by students or their sponsors, must be received by letter, fax or E-mail and will be charged as appropriate at the following rates:- Within 10 working days of the start date: 25% of the course fee Within 2 working days of the start date: 50% of the course fee On the start date, or non-attendance: 100% of the course fee Cancellation fees will be credited against an invoice if the student completes the course at a later date within the same financial year. Private students will, if applicable, be refunded in accordance with the above policy.
