Miskin Music Tonbridge deliver UAL: University of the Arts London full time courses with a focus in music performance. Our music courses cover a range of areas anyone wanting a career in the music industry would need to explore, including:

  • Instrumental lessons, where we help develop techniques and approaches to playing

  • Rehearsals, where students work as a band to prepare and refine material for their live performance

  • Live performances at a range of locations including our on-campus industry level theatre and external established music venues - minimum of five performances

  • Music history, where we explore the contextual background of different genres and artists through the study of culture, society and significant events

  • Music business, where we examine the wide range of career opportunities available within the music industry and how different areas work together

  • Composition, where students create material using industry standard software while also learning how to use different recording and production techniques linked to a range of composing scenarios

  • Theory, where we develop the understanding and use of common musical approaches and vocabulary to expand creativity and communication between musicians Through our tailor-made projects students will explore a wide range of genres and areas of the industry, allowing them to develop techniques, skills and approaches to playing or writing associated with them. Students will grow as musicians, but also as professionals, developing a range of transferrable employment skills including teamwork, confidence, adaptability, communication & a good work ethic. The courses are taught by professional musicians, who still work in the industry. We have industry guest speakers delivering a range of workshops and talks, giving our students a broad pool of experience to draw from. Our fully equipped rehearsal rooms and mac suite give students a great environment to develop their skills and reach their full potential.   • What qualification will I gain?

    UAL Level 2 Diploma in Music Performance & Production

  • Entry Requirements

    Minimum of four GCSEs grade 3 or above including English and maths Or an equivalent Level 1 Qualification in Music at merit or above. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor. To assess suitability of instrumental skills you will be required to attend an audition and interview where you will perform part of a song on your chosen instrument. The main instruments we teach are vocals, guitar, bass, drums & keyboard. There may be opportunities for horn players and some other instruments. You could also be asked to demonstrate techniques or additional knowledge of the instrument you have chosen. These elements will be identified in the information provided before the audition. You will also be required to write a supporting statement of 500 words outlining your suitability for the course.

  • What progression options will I have?

    Once you have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Music Performance and Production the following progression options could be available: UAL Level 3 Diploma In Music Performance & Production, Employment

  • What costs are involved?

    Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free

    19+ -£1650 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £175.

    This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay. Please contact the College for further details.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Our courses are assessed through projects that are designed to provide examples of real-world situations. The projects are coursework based and students can submit work in a wide range of formats. Students are assessed on their planning, research, practical skills, evaluation and reflection. The formative units allow students to develop these skills while also embedding professional industry work practices. When they embark on the Final Major Project at the end of the year, they demonstrate everything they have been working on and the skills they have developed. All units covered in the projects are graded using assessment objectives and criteria set by UAL: University of the Arts London. Students have the opportunity to achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
