This course is based on an industrial model via our production company, Miskin Music.

Miskin Music produces a diverse array of live music productions; each performance serving as the culmination of a 'real world' professional process with an emphasis on attracting audiences and consumers. ?Musicians will undertake projects which mirror the demands of this exciting and ever changing industry. ?Evolving areas such as viral marketing, and the productive use of social networking are central to our working ethos.?

Trainees will also develop and refine an online portfolio/personal website, increasingly seen as a vital resource for progression either into university or employment. A recognition and understanding of career paths and employment opportunities are embedded in our work, offering trainees the opportunity to develop skills in composition, performance techniques, theory and harmony, and event management/music business.

Your course will be delivered by knowledgeable and supportive staff who are all active professional musicians. They will work closely with you in our well-equipped rehearsal studios and digital composition suites; ensuring you are able to develop the skills required to begin your career in this thriving creative industry.?

Equivalent to 3 A Levels, a total of 72-168 UCAS points, depending on grades achieved).

The Miskin experience will support you in becoming a well-trained, clear-thinking artist ready to take your first steps into the industry. You will also develop the skills that all employers are looking for, including teamwork, self-confidence, communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to meet targets.

  • What qualification will I gain?

    UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma In Music Performance & Production (Music)

  • Entry Requirements

    5 GCSE (at Grades A - C) or equivalent. (inc English and Maths) Minimum of four GCSEs grade 4 - 9 including English and preferably maths and one creative subject. Or an equivalent Level 2 Qualification in Music at merit or above. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor.

    You will be required to attend an interview/audition where you will be required to perform a short piece (2 mins approx) on your relevant instrument. Guitarists should prepare pieces which demonstrate both Barre and ‘open’ chords. Your interview will require you to outline your background in the subject and any relevant previous experience or activities. Reasonable Intrument/Vocal Skills (To be assessed via audition)

  • What progression options will I have?

    Once you have completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma in?Music Performance and Production you could progress onto one of the following:

  • What costs are involved?

    Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ Advanced Learning Loan - £5700 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £220 This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay.   • How will I be assessed?

    All of your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation. This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats. You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection. All units will be graded against the Assessment Objectives set by UAL, with the final unit in year 2 being graded either a Pass, Merit or Distinction, which will become your overall grade for the qualification.
