The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (Acting for Camera) course will give you the opportunity to gain the skills and experience to progress in the Performing Arts Industry, or in any industry you wish to go on to study or work in.

Actors will collaborate closely with those on other Miskin programmes and work under intense conditions to learn the skills and discipline that their craft demands. Actors will perform in both stage plays and short films. The blend of the film acting focus with the critical foundations of stage technique will help the actor develop the skills and knowledge that are required in the industry.

Some of the areas covered throughout the course are- Movement, Voice, Acting for camera, Acting for the theatre, Improvisation and Audition Technique.

The Miskin will support you in becoming a well-trained, clear-thinking performer ready to take your first steps into the industry. You will also develop the skills that all employers are looking for, including teamwork, self-confidence, communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to meet targets.

  • What qualification will I gain?

    UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts

  • Entry Requirements

    Minimum of four GCSEs grade 4 - 9 including English and preferably maths and one creative subject. Or an equivalent Level 2 Qualification in Performing Arts at merit or above. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor.

    You will be required to attend an audition and interview where you will perform a monologue of your choice and will be asked to explain your commitment to acting. You will also take part in a practical drama workshop on the day. The outcome of your audition/interview will be assessed by the directors, and they will let you know if you have been successful.

  • What progression options will I have?

    Once you have completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma in?Performing and Production Arts?you could progress onto one of the following:?

    University? Employment? Apprenticeship? Drama School

  • What costs are involved?

    Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ Advanced Learning Loan - £7395 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £220 This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay.   • How will I be assessed?

    All your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation. This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats. You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection. All units will be graded against the Assessment Objectives set by?UAL, with Unit 12 in year 2 being graded either a Pass, Merit or Distinction, which will become your overall grade for the Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
