The NCFE Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity (Personal Training) is suited to students who wish to continue their academic studies in a specialised educational area. The course provides a solid grounding for students wishing to enter the world of personal training, fitness instructing or sports therapy/strength and conditioning and its associated industries, either through progression to university or by entering employment.

In addition, the course also offers the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction and the Level 3 Personal Training Qualification.

Units studied include: - Preparing for a Career in Sport & Physical Activity; Work Experience in Sport; Exercise, Health & Lifestyle; Fitness Testing; Instructing Physical Activity and Applied Strength & Conditionin The NCFE program will use continuous assessments and practical examinations. You will be able to track your performance as you work towards the pass, merit and distinction grades.

The program is a combination of practical training and classroom theory sessions. Each lesson will provide you with assessment opportunities as you work to achieve your goals and targets. You will need to have an active passion in sport and fitness and your tutors will encourage you to discuss your own achievements as well as the issues in modern sport.

  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSEs grade 4 or above. These must include English and/or Maths; PE is also desirable or a BTEC or NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport at a Merit grade

    What can I do when I finish my course? Due to the diverse nature of the course, students are well suited to continuing their studies with degrees in sports science, sports therapy and strength and conditioning being amongst the most popular. If you want to progress into employment the following areas in the sports and leisure industry would be suitable; health & fitness, personal training, fitness training or leisure centre management.

    Methods of assessment will include: exams, reports, presentations, practical demonstrations, fitness instructing sessions, posters, leaflets, experiments, interviews and discussions.
