The course complies with Merchant Navy Training Board guidelines. The National Maritime Training Centre is an approved training centre and issues the STCW certificate upon successful completion.
Section A-VI/1 of STCW (paragraph 3) states that ‘Seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 2 in basic training shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A VI/1-1.’
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This highly practical course aims to make students aware of the dangers inherent in survival situations. Students will update their knowledge of life saving equipment and survival techniques, and appreciate the importance of onboard emergency drills and exercises. This is an ideal opportunity for students to see and use a life raft in a wet environment.
Specific courses are available conforming to the requirements of the fishing industry, boatmen and the RYA.

Please bring swimwear and a towel.
