COURSE CERTIFICATION

This course has been approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency in the UK to satisfy the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation’s International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), which is part of the Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) regulations.  This training meets the requirements of Section A-V1/6 paragraph 4 of the amended STCW code.

The National Maritime Training Centre at North Kent College is approved by the MCA for both training and assessment, and issue of a certificate attests achievement of the desired standard of competence.

COURSE CONTENT

This is a half-day course with a practical and theoretical mixture giving candidates sufficient knowledge, understanding and skills enabling them to deal with security related issues onboard ship, which are not designated security duties, including the ability to:

  • Contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness
  • Recognise security threats
  • Understand the need for and methods of maintaining security awareness through heightened awareness

The course will enable those undergoing training to put into practice techniques and procedures for maintaining the security of the vessel through role-play, simulation and scenario-based training.
