The Foundation Learning programme is aimed at young people who have not reached a GCSE pass grade in English or Maths, or have not yet achieved the qualifications to start a Level 1 Diploma programme. It delivers a well supported course that may also include an introductory vocational option of studying towards a relevant qualification.
This course will provide opportunities for young people to gain qualification in Functional Skills in English and Maths. These are qualifications that will enable progression to a higher level course, an apprenticeship or work.
Students who join this programme may benefit from support with learning difficulties.
A vocational choice will be discussed with students to establish the individual career path options. Curriculum support workers assist with young people in a mentoring capacity to provide guidance and support with various issues that affect young people to provide a suitable programme for their needs.
