The UAL Level 4 in Art Practice programme at North Kent College offers students the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of visual art within a broad range of vocational and academic contexts, where practical skills and image making are underpinned by contextual & historical studies. You’ll cover aspects that include drawing, painting, printmaking, surface decoration, textiles, 3D design crafts, ceramics and sculpture.
Students will acquire the technical and practical skills required to work as a freelance visual artist or to gain a position in the creative industries such as illustrator, interior designer, painter or art therapist and those wishing to proceed onto a BA (Hons) programme will be well prepared. Some students may even be able to enter directly onto year 2 of that programme.
You will gain an awareness of contemporary practice and a developed portfolio. Professional practice and project management skills are encouraged through independent live work and our exciting group exhibitions held each year. Each year we aim for 2 exhbitions, one of which is external from the college to give you the experience of showing your work outside of college. In the past students have created work for the NHS, Dartford football club, Sophie Ellis Bextor and NASA.
Our Education Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and maths skills as required, depending on your GCSE results upon entry."
