More than a thousand jobseekers were welcomed through the doors of Bluewater’s event marquee earlier this month, with its summer jobs fair already leading to several job offers and interviews.
The event, organised by the Learning Shop, was attended by a number of renowned companies based at Bluewater including Marks and Spencer, Next, Hollister, John Lewis and Dyson.
With over 1300 interviews taking place on the day and more than 150 second interviews arranged, the summer jobs fair also saw eight on the spot offers of employment. Many employers praised the fair for being well organised, enjoyable and saw a good range of candidates.
Reflecting on the jobs fair, Ben Gay, manager for The Learning Shop, was pleased with how the event went, saying: “This was only the second summer jobs fair the Learning Shop has ever organised but the attendance and opportunities available on the day itself were some of the best I have seen in a while.”
Based in Bluewater, the Learning Shop is a unique partnership between the Department For Work and Pensions, North Kent College and Bluewater, and is the only centre of its kind in the North Kent region.
It provides support for people who want to find work or change career and delivers a wide range of services including professional training for schools, colleges, businesses and individuals, training for CSCS cards and CV writing and interview techniques.
It will hold another jobs fair in October, when companies recruit for the Christmas period.
