North Kent College students were given the opportunity to attend a careers fair at their campus to support them in making informed decisions about their next steps. The Careers team organised the events which were supported by a variety of employers, apprenticeship providers and universities.
The Events & Hospitality students used the Careers Fairs for real time work experience and helped with the planning of exhibitors and the smooth running of the events on the day.
The Fairs were tailored to the subjects available at that campus and gave the students opportunity to speak to a broad range of organisations. Across the three fairs employers included representatives from various sections of Armed Forces including the Border Force and Kent Police, care and early years providers including Beaming Stars, Caremark, Lifeway, London Early Years Foundation, and the NHS.
The Education People were there to help our students looking for traineeships and apprenticeships as were Ask Apprenticeships, Umbrella Training, Runway Training and our own NKC Apprenticeship Team and the Learning Shop at Bluewater. We were also joined by Sportacus, All Kids Can, Eve Taylor, Shepherd Neame, Brandshatch Place Hotel, Ebbsfleet Garden City, Restaurant Associates, Term Time Teachers, Integrated Water Services, Autotech and so many more.
Over 15 universities were present across the different campuses including our KaMCOP universities; The University of Kent, Canterbury Christchurch University, University of Greenwich and UCA – University for the Creative Arts. Our awarding body university, UAL also joined us as did Arts University Plymouth, BIMM, BIRD, Brighton, Essex, The European School of Osteopathy, Falmouth, Hertfordshire, Institute of Contemporary Theatre, Oxford Brookes, The Performers College, Rose Bruford, The Screen & Film School, Southampton Solent, and the University of Sussex.
Heather Judd, Careers Advisor, said “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the exhibitors who gave their time freely to support our students with their next steps. It was great to see the students engaging with the stall holders and broadening their understanding of the opportunities available to them. “
