Duncan Weetman, Head of Hospitality and Catering invited local hospitality businesses to attend his business breakfast at The View Restaurant, Tonbridge Campus. The aim of the breakfast was to discuss the Culinary Academy’s vision of developing the next generation of hospitality professionals through meaningful partnerships with hospitality businesses leading to apprenticeships and employment.
In attendance were associates from Hever Castle, Handpicked Hotels, George and Dragon and The Beacon they were greeted with refreshments prepared by our Hospitality and Catering students.
The morning consisted of a tour around the Tonbridge facilities, a presentation of the Culinary Academy achievements, goals, and aims, an open discussion on apprenticeships, taster days and events, guest speakers, student mentoring, KFE competitions and links to be made for the future.
Abby Webster, Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery joined the breakfast and shared her current experience of working at The Beacon alongside studying at North Kent College - she is entering the young pastry chef of the year competition 2023.

It was great enthusiasm about how both the College and their businesses could work together, to provide some great work experiences and possible apprentice opportunities for our learners. I look forward to welcoming them to the Culinary Academy and to work more closely in achieving these goals.”
