Kent residents looking for a top-notch hair salon experience at a bargain price, can take advantage of a special charity offer next month.
North Kent College’s hair students and apprentices are carrying out shampoo and styling services for just £5, at our Dartford, Gravesend and Tonbridge campuses, as part of Children with Cancer’s ‘Style Against Cancer’ event.
There will also be a raffle with the chance to win a professional hair and beauty hamper, and catering students will be providing freshly baked cakes as well.
The offer is on an appointment only basis, so all bookings must be made in advance and payment must be made in cash. All takings will be donated to the Children with Cancer charity.
The event is taking place on:
- Monday 2 October from 10am to 5pm – Tonbridge campus.
- Thursday 5 October from 10am to 6pm – Dartford campus.
- Friday 6 October from 10am to 3.30pm – Gravesend campus.

Clare Upham-Sharpe, Head of Curriculum Hair, Beauty, Spa and Media Make up Artistry at North Kent College’s Dartford and Gravesend Campuses, said: “Hosting the charity event on all three campuses will bring much joy and fulfilment to our learners, performing services with their love of hair, in the knowledge that they are helping others, is hugely empowering and confidence building.”
Hayley Clement, Head of Curriculum for Hair, Beauty and Make up Artistry at North Kent College’s Tonbridge Campus, added: “We are excited to be holding this event knowing that doing something we enjoy will help the charity Children with Cancer. It is a fantastic way for our students to gain experience working on clients, developing their styling skills, and taking part in a charity event.”
Each of North Kent College’s hairdressing salons at its Tonbridge, Dartford and Gravesend campuses are Lee Stafford affiliated academies.
A range of hairdressing and barbering courses are offered with students taught all the skills to master what celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford calls the ‘Michelin standard’ of hairdressing.
The College was recently named by the Lee Stafford Education Foundation as its Education College of the Year.
Students learn in a state-of-the-art hairdressing salon, with all the latest equipment and products, fully supported by a team of experienced hairdressers and barbers.
The three salons are open most weekdays, and on selected evenings, to the general public with students providing all of the services, from working on the reception desk to implementing the latest styles and trends, at a fraction of the cost.
