North Kent College Travel and Tourism students got a closer look at some of the intricacies of the industry with an educational trip to London in the run up to Christmas.
Level 3 Travel and Hospitality students had first-hand experience at two of the city’s major tourist attractions when they visited the London Bridge Experience and took a walk across Tower Bridge.
As well as increasing their awareness of the travel sector, the trip also provided a great opportunity to liaise with visitor attraction managers to confirm and support future work experience placements.
Second year Travel, Business and Hospitality students went on the London Big Bus Tour and took a trip to the Christmas Markets for an introduction to tour guiding and storytelling, and to learn more about the world of corporate events and corporate tour guiding.
Helen Ward-Nixon, Head of Curriculum (Travel & Tourism) for North Kent College, said: “We offer regular trips as part of our Travel and Tourism Business and Hospitality & Events curriculums, from day trips like these up to London, to longer haul trips to places like Thailand and New York.
These give our students the opportunity to get some practical experience, to add to the theory they learn in the classroom, giving them an even better chance of landing a job in the industry when they graduate”.
We offer a number of Travel and Tourism courses at our Dartford and Tonbridge campuses that focus on specific industry areas and developing skills to help students gain employment in the industry.
We make use of the latest facilities to enhance the learning experience, offering resources such as a mock-up aeroplane for a real-life cabin crew learning experience, and our courses are taught by industry professional with first hand knowledge and experience.
