Two North Kent College students have plenty to cheer about after becoming World Champions at the weekend!
Leah Humphries and Zac Edwards captained their team, Unity Allstars Royal, to the gold medal at The Cheerleading World Championship held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
It was double reason for celebration for Leah, who also captained the England Juniors All Girls Team, who came third in the world in their category (photo below).
Zac is studying Sports and Exercise Science Level 3 at the College’s Tonbridge campus, whilst Leah is studying Personal Training Level 3 at its Dartford campus.
Lorraine Blue, Head of Curriculum Personal Training and Sports Therapy, expressed her delight, saying: “As a Department we are extremely proud of Zac and Leah for achieving such a high accolade in the world of cheerleading. Leah and Zac's journey to gold at the Worlds Cheer Competition wasn't just about their athleticism; it was a testament to their relentless drive, unwavering teamwork, and sheer determination, and their victory isn't just about this individual medal but it's a reminder of what happens when passion meets perseverance.
“As a team we support many learners who compete both nationally and internationally, congratulations again to both of them!”
