North Kent College’s Miskin Theatre was the venue as some of the most exceptional individuals from the NHS were recognised last week (Thursday 19 October).
More than 160 NHS staff were in attendance as Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust (DGT) held its annual staff awards at the Theatre, situated at the College’s Dartford campus, for the first ever time.
North Kent College students from a variety of areas including photography, media, technical theatre, music and health and social care students, who aspire to join the NHS, all lent a hand to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust Chief Executive, Jon Wade, open and closed the event and awards were handed out across 18 categories ranging from Nurse of the Year to Volunteer of the Year, in between.
A delighted Stacie Collings, Assistant Principal for North Kent College, said: “We had the privilege of hosting the NHS Staff Awards at our Dartford campus. With 160 NHS staff in attendance, the event was a resounding success, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to collaboration and excellence. A big thank you to all who supported the event, and a well-done to our students and the future workforce.”
Alexandra Bode-Tunji, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, was equally pleased, saying: “Partnering with North Kent College for this year’s Staff Awards event is a testament to our commitment to community engagement. It has been a tremendous privilege to nurture the talents of students studying a vast range of disciplines and inspire them to utilise their skills so positively. There are a whole range of roles available at DGT and it is a wonderful opportunity to empower these young people and I hope they will pursue careers in the NHS.
“As with every year, the talent of our staff showcased at the 2023 Staff Awards has blown me away. The determination, commitment and levels of service our workforce provides is truly remarkable and I would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists for their outstanding contributions.”
The Trust’s Head of Employee Engagement, Michele Clark, added: “It is always fantastic to recognise the contributions and achievements of our colleagues. Staff at the Trust work immensely hard and these individuals deserve to be celebrated for the difference they make to our patients, services and fellow staff members. It has been great to work with North Kent College this year too.”
North Kent College’s highly acclaimed Miskin Theatre is situated at both its Dartford and Tonbridge campuses.
It has been graded as Outstanding by Ofsted for 21 years. Its productions, which are often open to the public, are put together by acting, music, dance and technical theatre students at the College.
