Hair, Beauty and Makeup students across various courses have had a busy time lately, with a series of talks, courses and activities all taking place.
Level 2 Media Makeup and Level 2 Hairdressing students worked with Level 2 and Level 3 Performing Arts students, to create a very realistic Wind in the Willows cast for the Miskin Theatre’s Christmas production.
Students spent two weeks working on the designs, mood board planning and understanding each individual character for the production that took place at North Kent College’s Tonbridge campus.
Students also played a pivotal role behind the scenes in lighting and show production, which all contributed to a wonderful Festive show!
Recently Beauty and Makeup students were given an insight into the business side of the industry, with a talk from Professional Beauty on why insurance is needed.
Students were told about the most claimed beauty treatments, what situations can lead to an insurance claim, and the importance of ensuring treatments are always carried out professionally.
Meanwhile in Half-Term, Level 1 and Level 2 Hairdressing students had a workshop with Zen Luxury Hair Extensions, where they learned the ins and outs of hair extensions and how to fit them.
Nelia Toscano Felicio, Lecturer in Beauty Therapy, said: “The insurance talk was a great benefit for the learners to attend. A breakdown of insurance was provided, and students are more confident as a result. Our aim is to prepare learners for the industry they are studying and one of the best ways to do this is by having guest speakers in to educate them further.”
