North Kent College Level 2 Creative Media students from Tonbridge campus were lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the Sky Studio Academy in Osterley, London.
The Sky Studio Academy is an immersive learning experience that gives young people the chance to experience being media creators, the academy allows free visits to students including a behind the scenes tour and use of the facilities on offer.
The students used facilities such as their bespoke TV studio and cutting-edge digital technology to create and film a short film trailer whilst working in an industry environment with industry professionals. Not only did students get to use the studio and the equipment but they also learnt about the various, unique roles available in the media industry. The staff members helped students throughout the trip working on their employability skills and showing them how to apply for an apprenticeship at sky studios.
Clare Abrahams Course Tutor said, “This is probably the most enjoyable trip we have been on. Not only was our workshop interesting and engaging, but the staff at Sky were also a real inspiration for the students.”
Sam Evangelistia Level 2 Creative Media student said, “Going on the trip to Sky Academy has inspired me to want to take up their training programme. My dream is now to work at Sky.”
Holly Akehurst student said, “I found this trip fun and enjoyable; it also helped me focus my plans for the future.
