Three North Kent College students have taken the next steps to a career in the maritime industry after gaining Distinctions in the End Point Assessment (EPA) of their apprenticeships.
Callum Bourne, Harrison Fay and Jake Jackson were all awarded top grades after completing their EPAs for the Seafarer Deck Rating Apprenticeship. They have undertaken the apprenticeship with Serco Maritime Services, which operates, supports, and maintains more than 1,000 ships and small craft at more than 30 locations worldwide.
Stephen Watkins, Manager of the National Maritime Training Centre (NMTC), was on hand to present the students with their SQA Maritime Studies Certificates for Able Seafarer – Deck, he said: “It is so rewarding for myself and my team to support these young seafarers of the future through their training. The EPA is the culmination of two years hard work, with time spent at the college alongside the knowledge and experience gained working on board Serco vessels. All three should be really proud of the Distinctions awarded and can look forward to a great career at sea”.
The NMTC is a leading provider of education and practical training for companies in the Maritime industry and is based at North Kent College’s Gravesend campus.
