In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Students’ Union at North Kent College and Hadlow College (part of North Kent College) along with the Senior Leadership Team planted a tree at each campus to recognise this unique and memorable time in history.
Four trees have been planted across each of the campuses as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. This is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”, leaving a legacy of the Platinum Jubilee for years to come.
Each tree planting ceremony was accompanied by a BBQ, ice cream van and activities such as a Bungee Run for the students to enjoy.
Trevor Fox, Student Engagement Officer, commented “Without the parts our students and staff played we would not have been able to create these memorable events for the students at our campuses. Students all week have commented on how much they enjoyed the events.”
He continued, “It is wonderful to be able to leave a legacy in the form of the trees that commemorate a once in a lifetime event. The College is so proud to be supporting the Platinum Jubilee celebrations!”
